Liberal candidate for Drummoyne Stephanie Di Pasqua has welcomed the first artist’s impression of the planned upgrade to Concord High School.
The project, which will see new and upgraded teaching spaces as well as a new hall, is still going through the design consultation and has included engagement with the school and community representatives as well as City of Canada Bay Council.
This process will detail rooms and spaces to support teaching and learning requirements, furniture, fixtures and equipment, and detailed building services and structural coordination.
Ms Di Pasqua said it was exciting to see this first image to show that the upgrade was progressing.
“It’s terrific that students, parents and the rest of the community can see this first ever image to get an understanding of what the investment will deliver,” Ms Di Pasqua said.
“Only a Liberal Perrottet Government has the strong economic credentials to deliver infrastructure projects like this and plan for the future.”
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the first look was an exciting step forward for the project.
“We are building this vision and working together with the community to deliver an upgrade that will meet the educational needs of families and students in the area for generations to come.
“There are lots of exciting changes to come to Concord High School. Not only am I looking forward to sharing progress on this upgrade, I am also excited to see a number of minor works projects completed for the school this year,” Ms Mitchell said.
Works expected to be finished this year include the refurbishment of the library toilets, the delivery of a covered shade structure and seating for the sports oval, and the roof replacement for Block D. The installation of air conditioning is in the final stages of tender for a contractor and an LED lighting upgrade is also expected to begin this year.
The NSW Government is investing $8.6 billion in school infrastructure over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 160 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This builds on the $9.1 billion invested in projects delivered since 2017, a program of $17.7 billion in public education infrastructure.
