An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $230,000 for an access upgrade at the Yanco All Servicemen’s Club.
The upgrade will see the installation of a lift which will ensure those of all ages and abilities can access the upper level of the Club.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Federal Member for Farrer, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, said she was approached by the Club after the existing stair-lift began to falter.
“Ensuring all members of the Yanco community can access to the first-floor restaurant and function area is essential to the flourishing of the town,” Ms Ley said.
“For more than half a century, the Club has been at the heart of Yanco’s social life as the main entertainment venue in town.”
Club spokesperson, Denise McGrath, said as well as playing host to special events, the upper level of the Club is the meeting place for social groups and community organisations such as the local primary school, the CWA, the Town Improvement Committee and the Carer’s group.
“This commitment aligns with the Club’s vision to be accessible to all members of the community regardless of their age or ability.”
“This upgrade will also mean we can also welcome all players and supporters back to the Club after Hawks home matches at the Yanco Sportsground.
Ensuring country communities have the essential services they need is all part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
