Phil Longley will back Wakehurst’s families and small business

Third-generation Northern Beaches local, Phil Longley, will campaign to put local community needs back on the agenda, after years of rising costs and neglected infrastructure, as the Liberal candidate for Wakehurst.

As a senior executive with an industry body, Phil has built up years of experience advising governments, regulators and organisations across Australia and internationally on public policy that delivers positive community outcomes and helps business succeed. He has also worked with entrepreneurs, startups and businesses, helping them grow, create jobs and bring new ideas to market.

Phil said his decision to run was driven by a growing frustration that Wakehurst families and businesses are being asked to do more, pay more and accept less.

“I’ve grown up on the Northern Beaches and, like so many locals, I’ve watched our community work harder, pay more tax and receive less in return.

“Families are under enormous pressure from rising mortgages, grocery bills, insurance premiums and the everyday cost of living,” Mr Longley said. “Small businesses are doing it incredibly tough, facing rising wages, energy bills, rent, and red tape while trying to keep their doors open and continue employing local people.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of our community. They create local jobs, support local families, sponsor our sporting clubs, and keep our economy moving. They deserve a government that backs them, not one that makes it harder to do business.

“At the same time, too many of the things that matter most to our community have been ignored; congestion is getting worse, infrastructure hasn’t kept pace, and too often Wakehurst has been treated as an afterthought by the people who are supposed to represent them.”

Phil said his priorities would be easing cost of living pressures, supporting families, backing local businesses, protecting Wakehurst’s unique environment and character, and securing the infrastructure and services the community deserves.

“I’m running to put Wakehurst back on the agenda. We deserve a representative who will listen, fight for our community and deliver real results rather than just more promises.

“Wakehurst is one of the best places in Australia to live, but we can’t take that for granted. We need to protect our local environment, invest in better roads, public transport, health services and the infrastructure our community relies on every day.

“People are rightly frustrated. they want someone who will fight for Wakehurst, stand up for local families and small businesses, and deliver the investment and representation our community deserves,” Mr Longley concluded.
