An elected Dutton Liberal Government has committed to the upgrade of two iconic surf clubs in Wentworth.
$5 million has been committed by the Liberals to upgrade the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club and $2.5 million has been committed to conserve and upgrade the historic Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club.
Liberal candidate for Wentworth, Ro Knox, said our local surf clubs bring generations together for a common purpose and embody the community service mindset which defines the East.
“This commitment will deliver improved and more inclusive facilities for those in our community who dedicate so much of their time and efforts to make our beaches world-famous for their safety.
Significant commitments to invest back into our community, such as these, are only made possible by working as part of the Liberal team,” Mrs Knox said.
Cr Will Nemesh, Mayor of Waverley Council, said these commitments to both Bronte and Bondi surf clubs are warmly welcomed.
“Upgrades to these clubs will ensure they can continue to serve local families and visitors for decades to come.” Mr Nemesh said.
Bronte Surf Life Saving Club President, Basil Scaffidi, thanked Ro and the Liberals for their generous pledge, which will help the club take a significant step towards replacing its ageing facility.
This commitment recognises the vital role Bronte SLSC plays not just for our members, but for the wider community who use the beach, the park and our facilities each day.
This commitment is part of the Liberals plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track.
