Standing up for Barton
Cybersecurity specialist, technology entrepreneur, small businesswoman and local Councillor Fiona Douskou, will be campaigning to win the electorate of Barton and deliver a Liberal Government.
Fiona’s small business roots go back to her parents and grandparents successfully running their own local businesses, which encouraged her to start her own business straight after high school.
“With small business in my blood, I have been really dismayed to see the devastating impact of Albanese Labor Government’s economic mismanagement on local small businesses as they struggle to keep their doors open,” Ms Douskou said.
“Our small businesses and households have been forced to cope with skyrocketing rents, energy bills, petrol and there’s no relief in sight.”
Fiona is an active member of the local community, as NSW Cybersecurity ambassador and youth mentor, volunteer with the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Kogarah, Australian Women in Security Network, and as a Rotary Club president she has led fundraisers and initiatives that help to foster a stronger community, such as raising money for Bayside Women's Shelter.
“This community has been my home for more than two decades and I want to see it prosper. I want local families to have a champion in federal Parliament who will stand up for their needs, after the Albanese Labor Government has forgotten about them and their plight.
“We need a Liberal Government that will deal with the inflation that has crippled the budgets of local households and small businesses, by reining in inflationary spending to take the pressure off.”
“As a small businesswoman I will champion removal of red tape that has been suffocating our economy and stopping businesses from getting ahead. I will be part of a Liberal team focused on bringing the federal Budget back under control - Labor has added $315 billion of spending since it came to power, across three budgets, and it’s still failing to address the source of the inflation challenge.
“The Albanese Labor Government has a terrible track record in NSW – whether it’s cutting billions in infrastructure funding, or promising almost a hundred times that electricity prices would come down by $275 while they have instead gone up.”
“While Labor has done nothing to help the Barton community, the Liberals have a strong track record of delivering what our community needs – lower power prices, lower interest rates and lower taxes,” Ms Douskou concluded.
