Five questions Chris Minns’ Bradfield Oration must answer
The Bradfield Oration is an opportunity for leaders to outline a vision for Sydney matching the legendary legacy of Dr John Bradfield.
Premier Chris Minns has so far failed to provide the vision or leadership that NSW needs, preferring to outsource his thinking to more than 30 reviews that his Labor Government has commissioned in the past seven months.
When delivering his Bradfield Oration tomorrow, the Premier must answer the following five questions – otherwise it will just be spin and rhetoric:
Will you commit to building the Metro West and, if so, when will this crucial piece of infrastructure be delivered?
Will you take up the bipartisan offer of working with the Opposition to help ease the housing demand in NSW by easing the rate of migration?
Will you rule out the sale of community used public land, such as bowling clubs and golf courses?
Will you commit to working with local communities on his planning and development proposals, instead of telling them to “get out of the way”?
Will you stand up to his Federal Labor colleagues to secure the infrastructure that NSW needs?
Unless the Premier clearly spells out how he plans to address the state’s rapidly growing population, critically needed infrastructure and funding, and rules out development plans on community land, tomorrow’s speech will not be deserving of John Bradfield’s name.
