A specialised team of flood recovery grant assessors will be deployed to the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley this month to assist residents, businesses owners and primary producers with grant applications.

Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said Greater Sydney communities affected by the recent June-July flood event will have access to the service which has previously benefited Northern Rivers residents.

“The grants blitz team has proven very successful at connecting people with financial assistance through face-to-face appointments that last as long as needed to find a resolution for people,” Ms Cooke said.

“So far our grants assessors have helped more than 2,600 people across the Northern Rivers through deployments to Ballina, Casino, Chinderah, Evans Head, Lismore, Mullumbimby and Murwillumbah, approving $12.6 million.”

Member for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston said assessors from Resilience NSW, Revenue NSW and Service NSW will hold sessions at South Windsor and Wisemans Ferry.

“The specialised grant assessors work step-by-step through the process of applying for grants and collecting the documentation required for an application to be approved,” Ms Preston said.

“We know some communities in the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley have experienced four major floods in 18 months, which is why it’s so important people have access to the support they need to help them recover.”

Flood-affected individuals and business owners can book an appointment by calling Service NSW on 13 77 88.

Appointments will be held at the following dates, times and locations:

  • Monday 12 September 10am-7pm – Windsor RSL, 36 Argyle Street, South Windsor;
  • Tuesday 13 September 10am-5pm – Windsor RSL, 36 Argyle Street, South Windsor;
  • Thursday 15 September 9am-5pm – The Retreat, 5,564 Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry; and
  • Friday 16 September 9am-3pm – The Retreat, 5,564 Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry.
