An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $3.5 million to electrify the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre.
This Centre accounts for 60 per cent of Council’s energy usage and 99 per cent of its gas usage.
The upgrades will modify the heating and cooling control systems to improve energy efficiency and restore humidity controls through the installations of heat pumps and other equipment.
Liberal candidate for Bennelong, Scott Yung, said this upgrade will benefit the much-loved Centre for generations to come.
“This commitment is expected to deliver an emissions reduction of 61 per cent for the Centre, increase energy efficiency and reduce operational costs,” Mr Yung said.
“This commitment is a major investment in the sustainability and amenity of the Centre and will also deliver a cost benefit for local ratepayers.”
Shadow Minister for the Environment, Jonathon Duniam, welcomed the announcement, commending Scott Yung for his commitment to practical and future-focused environmental solutions in Bennelong.
“I know how hard Scott has worked to deliver the smart, local leadership that Lane Cove families need and expect,” Senator Duniam said.
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
