Maria Kovacic elected as NSW Liberal Party President
NSW Liberal Party Members have elected accomplished Western Sydney businesswoman Maria Kovacic as the Division President.
Maria is an experienced managing director and business owner with more than twenty years’ experience across the commercial, public and not for profit sectors.
She founded and ran her own financial services business in Western Sydney for over sixteen years, and has served on a number of boards and committees across our community, including as the President and Chairperson of Hills Community Aid, Deputy Chair of Croatian Women in Leadership (Australia & New Zealand) and as a Director of the Franchise Council of Australia.
Maria has spent many years advocating across our community, and has focused particularly on the needs of women, small businesses and migrants.
Committed to helping women succeed in business and community roles, Maria co-founded Western Sydney Women and Western Sydney Executive Women, and was a part of the Parramatta Eels’ NRLW Advisory Committee and steering committee for Women@Eels.
“I will also continue the work on building a stronger Party, making us an even more welcoming place for people across the community, and encourage continued growth of our membership.”
“The election next March will be hard fought. Our Party will be talking directly to our community, including Western Sydney and the regions, about how the Perrottet Government can improve their lives and help their families”, said Ms Kovacic.
“The NSW Government is making childcare more affordable and accessible. This will give women a real choice about returning to or taking on more work. We are starting by investing in those areas in Western Sydney where it is tough to secure a spot in childcare. “
There are also plans to introduce a universal pre-kindergarten in the year before school – saving families on childcare fees and freeing up more childcare spots. This is in addition to efforts to expand and reduce the fees for after school care programs.
“The Premier has made new funding commitments for women’s safety, to help victim survivors leave domestic and family violence and stop harassment at work. The Premier is also investing in women’s health, with new funding for affordable fertility treatments.”
