New bus services helping get South Coast moving
Positive impacts of the Perrottet Government’s new 250 weekly additional bus services are being felt strongly across the South Coast after just three months, creating better connections across our towns and villages and making the lives of local business operators and their employees easier and more convenient.
Liberal Candidate for South Coast Luke Sikora has welcomed the additional transport services delivered as part of the Government’s 16 Regional Cities Services Improvement Program, as they have made it easier for residents to move around the region.
Examples of improvements include:
- A total of 126 additional weekly services between Basin View and St Georges Basin to Bomaderry via Sanctuary Point, Vincentia, South Nowra and Nowra
- A new, more direct service between the University of Wollongong Campus and Bomaderry Station
- A new route from Berrara and Sussex Inlet to Vincentia via Tomerong and Vincentia HomeCo operating Monday to Saturday with 24 weekly services
“The new 250 services are incredibly helpful for people who rely on buses to get to work, for their shopping trips, medical appointments, and even opening up lots of options for people who have accessibility issues,” Mr Sikora said. “The integration with the train timetable at Bomaderry has been particularly good, as it means people are better able to use public transport.”
“In Huskisson, for example, employees of the Bakehouse Espresso Group can now travel from a bus stop in Woollamia, making their daily commute to and from work much easier. These additional bus services have ensured that young people right across our community can find a job and to get to work.”
“It is also easier to board and disembark, as passengers have the option to tap on and off each bus using a credit or debit card.
“I recognise the challenges many residents without reliable transport face, particularly younger people in our community getting to work or school,” Mr Sikora said. “I’m proud to be campaigning for the Perrottet Government which recognises these challenges and is delivering real solutions to secure a brighter future for South Coast families.”
