Today, the Members of the Parliamentary Liberal Party elected the Hon Scott Morrison MP as the Party’s Federal Leader, and the Hon Josh Frydenberg MP as the Deputy.
The NSW Division congratulates Mr Morrison and Mr Frydenberg on their election to the Party’s leadership, and looks forward to working with the new federal team.
The Liberal Party has always fought to deliver a growing economy that creates jobs, lower taxes, and a secure nation. Australian people and businesses require stability and certainty, so that they can make critical decisions about their future.
With the new federal leadership in place, the Party will continue to work hard to ensure that our economy continues to grow and businesses can prosper and employ people, and continue to focus on successfully delivering critical government services such as national security and economic management.
The NSW Division President, the Hon Philip Ruddock, said that NSW will continue to benefit from a Prime Minister who has an intimate understanding of our state’s issues.
“As Sydney continues to be the home of Australia’s Prime Minister, we are in a fortunate position of being able to ensure the ongoing focus on critical NSW matters, so that our economy can continue to grow and businesses can prosper and employ more people,” Mr Ruddock said.
“Mr Morrison’s commitment to the fair go for all Australians – regardless of whether they’ve been here for 10 generations or 10 minutes – is a welcome show that his Government will fight for a nation that gives everyone the opportunity to succeed.
“The NSW Division is ready to support the Morrison Government in the critical task of defeating Bill Shorten and Labor at the next election, to ensure that people of NSW are not dealt a devastating blow by the Labor Party that is deeply in debt to their union mates.
“I would like to thank Malcolm Turnbull for his service to the Liberal Party, the Wentworth electorate, and the people of Australia. On behalf of the Party, I wish him, Lucy and their family well for the future. I would also like to thank the outgoing Deputy Leader, Julie Bishop, for her tireless service in that role.
