More than $45 million has been awarded for new and upgraded sports facilities as part of the NSW Government’s Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund.

The Fund provides up to $100 million over two years to increase participation and promote healthy lifestyles, with 74 sporting organisations successful in Round Two.

Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the funding is a welcome reward for NSW sporting organisations.

“This is about recognising the critical role local sport infrastructure plays in keeping our communities healthy, active and connected,” Mr Ayres said.

“New and improved sporting facilities help to support greater participation and performance opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, in all sports and at all levels.

“2022 is shaping up as a great year for NSW sport and I’m thrilled to see people back out doing what they love,” Mr Ayres said.

The Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund provides grants from $100,000 to $1 million for projects such as lighting, amenity and changeroom upgrades.

Projects that encourage the participation of women and girls and people with a disability are a focus of the Fund.
