NSW Seniors could save hundreds of dollars a year through a range of existing rebates and new programs kick starting from July.
More than 20 additional rebates and savings will go-live as part of the Cost of Living program, which means there are now more than 70 rebates and cost of living measures available through Service NSW.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet announced cost of living measures for seniors would be a key part of the 2019-20 NSW Budget.
“We know the cost of living is a big issue facing seniors and households, which is why we are introducing the new Senior Savers Card from July,” Mr Perrottet said.
“The introduction of the new card is a win for seniors and means no one misses out.”
Minister for Seniors John Sidoti said for the first time all NSW residents over the age of 60 will be eligible to receive discounts on products and services offered by more than 7000 businesses through the NSW Seniors Card program.
“Seniors will be able to save hundreds of dollars at Service NSW’s one-stop Cost of Living service either online or in person with a Service NSW expert,” Mr Sidoti said.
“Booking an appointment is simple and easy and you could walk away with extra money in your pocket.
“A couple who use Energy Switch, claim a vehicle rego concession, a Low Income Household Rebate and the pensioner water rebate could save nearly $1200.”
“The NSW Seniors Card will continue to provide discounts and deals to its existing 1.6 million members, while the new card will provide access to all the same offers excluding NSW Government rebates and transport concessions”
“Eligible seniors will also enjoy a $200 self-funded retiree energy rebate from July.”
