- Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced NSW will further ease COVID-19 restrictions across the State from Friday.
STUDENTS START RETURNING TO THE CLASSROOM
- Students across NSW will start returning to the classroom this week as the managed approach to schools begins.
- Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell thanked students, staff, Principals, teachers and support staff for the way they have conducted themselves during this challenging time.
- Schools are expected to remain in this current stage for at least two weeks.
NSW GOVERNMENT SUPPORTING INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS THROUGH COVID-19
- The NSW Government will fund temporary crisis accommodation for stranded international students as part of a $20 million package protecting the vulnerable and maintaining the State’s track record as a leading global study destination.

NSW GOVERNMENT EXTENDS FEE-FREE COURSES TO HELP BUSHFIRE IMPACTED COMMUNITIES
- The NSW Government further extends its support to the communities recovering from bushfires with a range of fee-free vocational education courses, following an initial suite of courses announced earlier this year on the South Coast.

- A fleet of 89 new state-of-the-art ambulances will be rolled out to communities across NSW as part of a $17 million funding boost from the NSW Government.
- The $17 million is part of the NSW Government’s $800 million investment to boost ICU capacity and purchase additional services and medical equipment.
$310 MILLION BOOST TO DROUGHT ASSISTANCE
- The NSW Government announced a further $310 million in emergency drought relief in recognition of the on-going drought conditions in regional NSW and to uphold a commitment to helping farmers make it out of the worst drought in living memory.

POLICE COVID-19 EFFORTS BOOSTED BY NEW CYBERCRIME OFFICERS
- Additional police officers have been allocated to the Cybercrime Squad as COVID-19 restrictions see a rise in cybercrime reports.
- Eight additional investigators have been added to the Cybercrime Squad following a noticeable increase in online scams, including vendors selling personal protective equipment for vastly elevated prices.
FINAL YEAR STUDENTS TO BOOST COVID-19 RESPONSE
- Final year medical students will take on new, supervised roles in NSW hospitals under a $12.7 million initiative to boost the medical workforce if needed during the pandemic.
- The NSW Government is delivering $800 million extra funding for NSW Health to help boost ICU capacity and purchase additional services and medical equipment.
- The National Cabinet endorsed a national plan that sets out the mental health and wellbeing priority areas for the overall response to the COVID-19 pandemic, building on the mental health supports announced by States and Territories including New South Wales.
- In NSW, we have already invested an extra $73 million in mental health supports to improve the wellbeing of the whole community. This included 180 new mental health staff, additional funding for the NSW Mental Health Line, extra support for Telehealth and funding for every mental health ward to run additional therapeutic programs to aid recovery.
- We are delivering new ‘safe spaces’ as alternatives to emergency departments as well as investing $6 million in Lifeline to expand their invaluable service.

NEW VISION FOR ROYAL NORTH SHORE HOSPITAL
- The NSW Government announced plans to transform a portion of Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), known as the Herbert Street Precinct, into a thriving community with additional health-related services, public open space, key worker housing and a new educational facility.
