$80 MILLION INVESTMENT IN APPRENTICES TO SUPPORT JOBS AND DELIVER NEW HOMES
- Around 300 apprentices and cadets in the NSW construction and housing sector will be supported thanks to an $80 million investment in the NSW Budget.
- Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the $80 million will be invested over four years to support apprentices, trainees and cadets on social housing projects delivered by the NSW Land and Housing Corporation and provide a helping hand to young people whose job prospects have been impacted by the COVID-19 downturn.
$46.8 MILLION TO EXPAND SUCCESSFUL WELLBEING NURSES IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM ACROSS THE STATE
- The NSW Government has earmarked $46.8 million over four years as part of the 2020-21 NSW Budget to deliver 100 new school-based nurses to support the health and wellbeing needs of students and their families.
- The expansion of the successful Wellbeing and Health In-Reach Nurse (WHIN) program will see the highly skilled nurses embedded in more schools to ensure students can easily access health and social support when they need it.
- Charities and not-for-profits will be supported to adapt and flourish through the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to a new $50 million fund.
- Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said community services organisations were a key part of the NSW economy, and the Social Sector Transformation Fund would help create a strong and compassionate NSW.
- Small businesses across NSW are winning big thanks to the 2020-21 NSW Budget with a $39.3 million boost for the Business Connect program.
- On top of the Government’s announcement in April of $9.8 million Business Connect funding for 2020-21, the program will be extended for a further three years, representing a total $39.3 million, four-year commitment.
