- The NSW Government will allow pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants to have up to 50 customers, subject to a one person per four square metre rule, and with strict social distancing guidelines from 1 June.
HOLIDAY TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS TO BE LIFTED FROM 1 JUNE
- NSW residents will be able to take a holiday anywhere in NSW from next month, with intra-state travel restrictions to be lifted from Monday 1 June, 2020.
- Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro said NSW citizens will be able take recreational trips across NSW, as long as they maintain social distancing and good hygiene.
NSW STUDENTS RETURN TO THE CLASSROOM FULL-TIME
- Students across NSW will be back in the classroom full-time from next Monday, 25 May.
- The success of the phased return to face to face teaching has demonstrated the education system and community are ready for school to come back full-time.
MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND LIBRARIES TO REOPEN FROM 1 JUNE
- Museums, galleries and libraries across NSW will be allowed to reopen from 1 June, under an easing of restrictions announced by the NSW Government.
- Premier Gladys Berejiklian today said this was another important step forward in the reopening of NSW.
- Western Sydney is set for a further construction boom, with two more projects getting the green light today through the NSW Government’s Planning System Acceleration Program.
- Planning approval has been given to a new recycling facility in Penrith and a major upgrade to a brick production facility in Horsley Park that, combined, will inject an additional $27.8 million into the economy and support more than 130 local jobs.
SNOWY 2.0 APPROVED: MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR BOOST FOR REGIONAL NSW
- Up to 2,000 new jobs will be created and $4.6 billion will be injected into regional NSW with Australia’s biggest energy storage project getting the go-ahead today from the NSW Government.
- Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro said planning approval for the Snowy 2.0 Main Works would mean new jobs, big investment and big infrastructure for regional NSW.
MORE PLANNING PROJECTS TO PROPEL FUTURE OF NSW
- NSW will lead Australia to economic recovery, with the NSW Government today announcing another 24 priority projects, including a new retail centre, industrial precincts, three new schools and the relocated Sydney Fish Markets, that could inject more than $5.37 billion into the State's economy.
- Fire-affected forests will soon be rejuvenated with new life as the NSW Government embarks on the largest replanting program in the state’s history, beginning with an injection of $46 million into Forestry Corporation.
- Deputy Premier and Minister responsible for Forestry John Barilaro visited Blowering Nursery in Tumut this week to kick off the seedling season and said more than 10 million new shoots would be planted over the next 12 months across NSW.
RAIL UPGRADES PAVE THE WAY FOR MORE JOBS AND BETTER SERVICES
- The NSW Government has signed two construction contracts worth about $600 million to modernise and upgrade infrastructure on the rail network, which will create 550 new jobs.
- Transport Minister Andrew Constance said the major milestone will result in the creation of hundreds of jobs for the NSW economy to deliver essential upgrades to rail infrastructure including stabling yards, signalling, track, station platforms and power supply at key locations between Central, the T8 Airport Line tunnel and the South Coast.
NEW POP UP CYCLEWAYS TO HELP US GET BACK TO WORK AND SCHOOL
- Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore today announced a number of temporary initiatives across the city to give people more options to safely walk, cycle and commute to work.
- These include six new pop up cycleways in key commuter areas across the city and new temporary safe speed limits to promote walking and cycling.
