Delivering better services sooner and closer to home.

The NSW Government made record investments in our health system through the 2022-23 Budget.

  • 10,148 full-time equivalent staff will be recruited to hospitals and health services across the state over four years, in the nation’s largest-ever health workforce boost, thanks to a $4.5 billion investment through the budget.
  • 7,674 of these workers will be recruited in the first year, easing pressure on COVID-fatigued health staff and fast-tracking elective surgery for patients.
  • Including the recruitment of 2,128 new staff for NSW Ambulance
  • $883 million will be spent over the next four years to attract and retain staff in rural and regional NSW by transforming the way health clinicians are incentivised in the bush
  • The budget has also delivered a one-off ‘thank you’ payment of $3,000 will be provided to NSW Health employees in recognition of their tireless work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NSW Government has also made record investment in our education system through the 2022-23 Budget.

  • $21.4 billion is being invested into NSW students through the FY2022-23 Budget - driving evidencebased reform, building new and upgraded schools and reaching record staffing levels.
  • The Teacher Supply Strategy is a long-term, 10-year strategy that is on track to deliver 3,700 teachers with the right subject qualifications in the right locations across the state across its lifespan.
  • In addition to the new staff pipelines created by the strategy, we have already hired more than 3,100 teachers this year - 44% more than the same period last year.
  • This year, the NSW Government has embarked on an ambitious education reform program, including a pilot to extend the school day and make early learning more accessible and affordable.

The NSW Government has also announced a $5.5 billion investment for the NSW Police Force to help keep our communities safe.

  • $95.9 million for 550 additional police officers who will join the front line during 2022-23, as part of the NSW Government’s $583 million commitment to recruit 1,500 police over four years.
  • Police numbers are at record levels, with 17,667 sworn officers in the NSW Police Force as of June 2022.
