A state of the art Indigenous Centre of Excellence, active transport projects, revitalising Riverside Theatre and much more are some of the major projects Liberal candidate for Parramatta Katie Mullens has welcomed as part of the NSW Government’s WestInvest fund.

“More than $250 million in funding for local government, community groups and Western Sydney University in Parramatta is terrific news for the community,” Ms Mullens.

“Parramatta is a growing community that is wonderfully diverse and that makes investments like this so important for locals who want to live, work and raise a family.

“All of these 16 projects will improve liveability across the area.”

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said WestInvest is securing a brighter future for Western and Southwestern Sydney families through transformative local infrastructure that will benefit residents.

“Thanks to the NSW Government’s strong economic stewardship and successful WestConnex asset recycling program, we continue to deliver once-in-a-generation improvements to Sydney’s west,” Mr Kean said.

Some of the key WestInvest projects in Parramatta include:

$78.5 million for Western Sydney University to establish an Indigenous Centre of Excellence at Rydalmere that will generate enduring benefits for Indigenous communities across the region.
$82.4 million to the Parramatta City Council for five separate active transport projects, delivering a massive boost for walking and cycling.
$40 million for City of Parramatta Council to revitalise the 30 year old Riverside Theatres and cultural arts centre to provide a state-of the-art performance and theatre centre in Sydney's Central City.
$971,300 for the City of Parramatta Council to enhance the amenity, safety and useability of Lake Parrmatta, making it a more desirable swimming area.
Mr Kean said the projects will deliver more open spaces and help connect communities.

“We are forging a new era for this great region that will continue to benefit from WestInvest projects for many decades,” Mr Kean said.

“Western Sydney is one of the most diverse and dynamic economic centres in Australia. WestInvest will support the region’s growth and help spur local jobs to lift our State to even greater heights.”
