An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $1.5 million to upgrade the Glen Street Theatre in Belrose.
Over the past 40 years, Glen Street Theatre has become the cultural heart of the Northern Beaches, presenting a rich program of professional theatre, musical performances, community productions and educational events.
The success of the Glen Street complex has always depended upon the generous support of the community; however, substantial upgrades have been considered necessary by Council.
Liberal candidate for Mackellar, James Brown, said Glen Street Theatre needs and deserves support to make essential upgrades to both its staging and back of house.
“The Glen Street Theatre is where our community comes together to celebrate the arts, enjoy performances and inspire future generations,” said Mr Brown.
“This commitment will ensure the theatre remains a vibrant, inclusive and accessible cultural venue for the Beaches.”
Shadow Minister for Science and the Arts, Senator Claire Chandler, praised James Brown for his commitment to the full breadth of the Northern Beaches.
“James Brown has worked tirelessly to fight for this commitment on behalf of the Northern Beaches,” Senator Chandler said.
“This commitment reflects James’ passion for the Northern Beaches and his belief in the power of the arts to enrich the lives of individuals and communities.”
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
