Liberals commit $5 million for stage 1 of Jervis Bay Road upgrade
Senator Andrew Bragg
Senator for New South Wales
Andrew Constance
Liberal Candidate for Gilmore
An elected Liberal Dutton Government will commit $5 million towards the upgrade of Jervis Bay Road, in addition to $45 million already committed for Shoalhaven roads improvements.
This commitment will deliver much-needed local road upgrades to improve safety along Jervis Bay Road, including an overtaking lane, road resurfacing and shoulder sealing in key sections.
Liberal Candidate for Gilmore, Andrew Constance said Labor has failed to deliver important road upgrades, with no works having commenced on the Shoalhaven Roads Package projects.
“I worked with local residents and Shoalhaven City Council, in 2022, to identify priority upgrades to improve safety and address the maintenance backlog because I knew how desperately we needed road upgrades – but we’re no better off today, three years later,” Mr Constance said.
“Despite significant housing and commercial developments over the past 25 years, the community has seen little improvement on Jervis Bay Road.”
“Once the Coalition-funded Princes Highway intersection upgrade is complete, Jervis Bay Road will experience increased traffic, making it a priority to fix the road for the safety of all users.”
“I remain dedicated to fighting for road safety investments that will benefit our region.”
Senator for New South Wales, Andrew Bragg, said after nearly three years of inaction under Labor, the Liberals are committed to delivering a $50 million infrastructure package which meets the urgent needs of the Shoalhaven region.
“Unlike Labor, we are taking decisive action to restore local road safety and supporting economic growth in the Shoalhaven,” Senator Bragg said.
“This commitment is another clear message to South Coast families that local road infrastructure will only get back on track under a Dutton Liberal Government.”
