A Dutton Liberal Government has committed $1.39 million to deliver a new base for Marine Rescue in the Shoalhaven.
This commitment will see the demolition of the existing facility at Crookhaven Heads and ensure the construction of a purpose-built emergency services unit base and training facility that meets modern safety and operational standards.
The new base for Marine Rescue in the Shoalhaven will operate as a Search and Rescue Control Centre with improved radio operations, facilities, storage and accessibility.
Liberal candidate for Gilmore, Andrew Constance, said this commitment is of generational significance to the Shoalhaven.
“This commitment acknowledges the decades of work, by Marine Rescue Shoalhaven volunteers, to keep our community safe on the water and, importantly, will build the new base which will save lives and bring our community together for many years to come.”
“This commitment will not only build on-water capability but will bring our community together by promoting the growth of Marine Rescue and deepen its engagement with the Shoalhaven.”
Deputy Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, was present at Culburra to make the commitment and to praise Andrew Constance his advocacy on behalf of Marine Rescue volunteers and Shoalhaven locals.
“Andrew has fought hard to make this commitment possible, but it will be his unrivalled experience of delivering for the South Coast that will bring this important project to life.”
This commitment is part of the Liberals plan to get Australia back on track.
