WE WILL DELIVER CHEAPER ENERGY
Labor promised to reduce annual electricity bills by $275 by 2025. Yet for many Australians, electricity bills are increasing by up to $1,300 more than promised.
Labor’s ‘renewables only’ approach to our energy system is resulting in high prices and a grid that is increasingly reliant on weather-dependent and unreliable energy sources.
Australia is the only country in the top 20 economies that is not using zero-emissions nuclear power, or taking steps to put it in the mix.
We will deliver a balanced energy mix with renewables, gas, storage and zero-emissions nuclear.
A Dutton Coalition Government will:
- Deliver lower energy bills for families and businesses.
- Deliver an energy plan that saves Australians up to $263 billion through to 2050 compared to Labor’s plan.
- Establish a civil nuclear program in Australia, including operating nuclear power plants in seven locations across the country.
- Deliver a National Gas Plan, including and East Coast Reservation to keep more Australian gas for Australians and drive prices down.
- Develop gas in key basins, like the Beetaloo, and include new gas generation in the capacity investment scheme.
- Enable the responsible and sustainable growth of renewables as part of our future generation requirements.
- Avoid the overbuild of transmission lines and greenfield industrial solar and wind projects that regional communities don’t want.
- Ensure retiring coal generation is replaced by reliable baseload energy.
