An elected Liberal Dutton Government will commit $2.4 million to upgrade the Larry Grant Memorial Oval in Ashcroft – home of the Hinchinbrook Sports Club.
The upgrade will see the retrofit of an all-weather synthetic surface as well as additional improvements to facilities at the oval.
Sam Kayal, Liberal candidate for Werriwa, said these upgrades are vital to supporting local sport in Sydney’s southwest.
“This commitment will ensure that Larry Grant Memorial Oval can be used in all weather and all year round – which will be a great win for our aspiring Matildas and Socceroos,” Mr Kayal said.
“We know local sport, and especially football, is booming in popularity particularly amongst young women and girls.”
“These upgrades will mean less washouts and more time on the pitch to practice and play as well as attracting elite level opportunities right here in Ashcroft.”
Shadow Minister for Communications and Shadow Minister for Western Sydney, Melissa McIntosh, praised Sam Kayal for his advocacy on behalf of the Hinchinbrook Sports Club and aspiring football superstars from across Sydney’s southwest.
“Sam knows how important local sport is to families here in the southwest and has worked hard to deliver this commitment for them,” Mrs McIntosh said.
“For too long, Labor has taken the southwest for granted, but that will end should Sam be elected to represent this vibrant and growing region of Sydney.”
“I know that Sam won’t stop fighting for families in Ashcroft and across Werriwa.”
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
