Liberals commit to Cooma Showground horse stalls upgrade
Jo Van Der Plaat
Liberal Candidate for Eden-Monaro
An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $65,000 to upgrade the horse stalls at Cooma Showground.
The stalls are used by many organisations including the Cooma Show Society, Monaro Equestrian Society, Cooma Rodeo and Cooma Can Crushers Barrel Racing.
The stalls are, however, no longer fit for purpose and have not kept pace with the growth the number of competitors at events hosted at Cooma Showground.
The upgrade of the stalls will see the height of the eaves increased to ensure safe access for horses competing at Cooma Showground.
Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, Jo van der Plaat, said this commitment is about investing in the future of a facility which has served Cooma for generations.
“This much needed upgrade to the Cooma Showground Horse Stall will improve safety and benefit the hundreds of riders, trainers, and horses who make use of the stalls each year,” Mrs van der Plaat said.
“These upgrades will cement Cooma Showgrounds as a premier destination for equestrian activity in the region — supporting local events, attracting visitors and boosting the local economy.”
“Cooma has a proud equestrian heritage, so this upgrade will respect that tradition and unlock more opportunities for growth, training and competition across the district.”
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
