An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $165,000 to upgrade the Jindabyne Community Garden.

The Jindabyne Community Garden is owned by local residents and has been managed by a committee of volunteers for over a decade.

The Garden is not currently accessible for all Jindabyne residents and not appropriate for all-weather use.

This commitment will ensure the delivery of upgrades to the Garden, including the installation of wheelchair access, new footpaths between raised garden beds, solar shades and a solar-powered demountable kitchen.

Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, Jo van der Plaat, said that the upgrades will ensure that the Jindabyne Community Garden is accessible to those of all ages and abilities.

“This commitment will do more than just improve the Garden – it’s about strengthening the Jindy community, sustainability and provide a hands-on education in the growth and preparation of fresh food,” Mrs van der Plaat said.

“This commitment will improve wellbeing in the community and create social connections across generations among Jindy locals.”

“I’m pleased that this commitment will, ‘grow Jindy’!”
